World Champion gymnast, Joe Fraser has today joined Rocket Sports and will be represented by Athlete Manager, Anna Marshall. Joe joins ahead of his first Olympic Games at Tokyo2020 and will sit alongside a roster of established athletes including Geraint Thomas, Laura and Jason Kenny and Harriet Dart.
One of UK’s sports brightest young stars, Joe became Great Britain’s first-ever World Champion on the parallel bars in 2019, winning his title at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart.
Having also qualified to compete as part of Team GB at the TOKYO 2020 Olympics, Joe, who lives and trains in his hometown of Birmingham, is tipped for further medal success this year both on the individual equipment and in the all-round competition.
Joe exploded onto the scene in 2017 at the British Championships, taking the all-around title in his first year as a senior. His story is made even more compelling by the fact he came last in his first ever competition at the very beginning of his career. Joe is coached by Lee Woolls and is a member of City of Birmingham Gymnastics Club.
Joe commented “Winning the World Championship was a career highlight and really topped off a big 2019. Although I’m the athlete who gets to own the medal, it’s only because of the support I’ve had from my coach Lee, my family and especially the Sky Scholars programme. It’s great to have the support of Rocket Sports who have worked with so many athletes I look up to. The next few years are going to be big for gymnastics and I cannot wait to get stuck into the biggest competitions.”
Anna Marshall, Athlete Manager comments: “We are delighted to welcome Joe to the Rocket Sports family. Not only is he a World Championship athlete but he is laser focused on inspiring young people into sport. He’s a great ambassador for gymnastics and also for Birmingham! With the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games on the horizon, we are looking forward to working with Joe on the next exciting chapter of his career.”
