BBC Documentary: The Road will Decide

2018 was an unforgettable year for one particular Rocket Sports athlete.  Geraint Thomas became the first Welshman to win the Tour De France in history.  That victory sparked months of activity, including a homecoming parade in Cardiff with ten thousand spectators, countless press commitments and the launch of his second book, The Tour According to G

As Geraint embarked on the 2019 season, having recently being crowned Sports Personality of the Year, there was only one goal. To retain his Tour de France title.  The event was widely regarded as one of the closest and dramatic Grand Tours in history.  There were road closures, snow storms and searing 40ºC temperatures to contend with.

The BBC commissioned an hour long documentary that was produced by Cardiff based, Nimble Productions.  With unprecedented access to Geraint and Team INEOS, the film crew embedded themselves into the Tour De France peloton, capturing Geraint’s effort as he dealt with the pressures of being reigning champion.

The finished production provided fans with a remarkable insight into the commitment and pressures of being a professional cyclist at the world’’s largest sporting event.  The film was broadcast on BBC One across the UK and saw over 1 million viewers across the UK and through the iPlayer.
